“I feel stuck in a job I hate, but I can’t quit because I have a family to provide for.” – Aaron in Kansas City, MO
Dear Aaron,
You feel trapped. The weight of responsibility grinds you down, and quitting isn’t an option—not with mouths to feed and bills to pay. But let me say this straight: just because you’re stuck doesn’t mean you’re lost.
This job doesn’t define your worth. Your ability to endure with integrity, to wake up and keep showing up even when the fire’s gone out—that’s a holy kind of courage. Jesus knew what it was to labor in obscurity, to sweat and serve long before the spotlight ever hit. That season matters. So does yours.
But grit alone won’t get you through. You need vision. Not a five-year plan, but a whisper from God that says, “You’re more than this paycheck.” Start there. Pray dangerously: “God, what are You teaching me in this field of frustration?”
One day, the threshing floor will reveal what you’ve built in the dark. For now—be faithful, not flashy. Trust that your obedience is sowing something eternal.
“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
Keep your boots on,
